I made this faceting design on the base of “Penrose tiling”, a way of covering a flat surface with polygons of different shapes that repeat non-periodically. In this case they are two rhombuses of different angles, it corresponds to the type 3 of Penrose tiling. The crown of the gem is not flat, so some little distortions were inevitable, but it looks well in face-up view! 😎💎
