Unveil the secrets of gem cutting as I take you through the fascinating process of designing and faceting a gemstone with the legendary Flower of Life pattern — one of the most iconic symbols in Sacred Geometry.

Inspired by the works of renowned master cutters like Mark Oros, Victor Tuzlukov, and Andrew Brown, I take on the challenge of creating my own version of this faceting design. I carefully reconstruct the geometric blueprint based on the original sacred drawing, then adapt it for gemstone proportions using precise mathematical adjustments and fractional indexing on the faceting machine.
You’ll see how to:
– Translate a 2D Flower of Life into a full 3D faceting design
– Generate a base of equal rhombuses to serve as a framework
– Build micro-facets on the rhombus edges to form the finished design
– Use Gem Cut Studio and GemCad in tandem to achieve high accuracy
– Preform the stone with a CabKing machine for fast, efficient shaping
– Apply meticulous hand faceting and polishing techniques.
– Create not only a large central gem (25 mm) but also three smaller matching stones (16 mm) for a complete jewelry set.
This project is as much about art and symbolism as it is about precision engineering and gem cutting. The faceting process reveals how light interacts with geometry, producing reflections that reinforce the Flower of Life’s harmony and symmetry.
